It is with much sadness that I share the news of the sudden passing of Ray Linwood. A phone call yesterday from Rays wife changed my, and many others, life forever.
I met Ray while I was with Cristal (Tronox) back in 2012. He was the Business Development Manager for one of the local South West Recruitment agencies, and although he changed to work for other companies (KI Group being the most recent) over the past 11 years, we spoke regularly and met for coffee and lunch and of course a cold pint. We became friends.
For those who knew Ray he was full of life and laughs, and was your perfect BDM, that being loud and persistent. He would often call me, and I would answer with “Ray you’re annoying me.” A couple of months ago he called and about 5 minutes in, after being bombarded I said “Ray Ray Ray………(silence)….take a breath.” But of course he knew I was kidding.
Ray called me last Thursday morning to see if I could meet in Bunbury for a quick coffee. I was busy in meetings and said if he’s still in town at noon to call me and I’ll pop in. He never called, and 48 hours later he was gone. No more coffees, lunches, beers and BIG laughs.
RIP good buddy. I will always miss you, and will always cherish our wonderful times together.
